Job summary

AlphaGov in Lenexa, KS is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to oversee estimating, budgeting, and project planning for commercial construction in the Kansas City area. You will lead the preconstruction process from pursuit to final pricing and transition to construction, coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

The role emphasizes cost modeling, value engineering, and procurement strategy to deliver competitive bids and robust budgets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or commercial construction.
• 10+ years of overall commercial construction experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of conceptual and detailed cost estimating and budgeting.
• Experience with design-build, CMAR, negotiated and bid delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Direct preconstruction activities from pursuit through final budgeting and handoff.
• Develop conceptual estimates, budgets, GMPs, and bid proposals.
• Analyze drawings to establish scope and pricing.
• Lead value-engineering reviews and cost-saving recommendations.
• Prepare scopes of work and procurement plans.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Present cost estimates and procurement considerations to leadership and clients.
