Job summary

Granger-Construction in Detroit seeks a Senior Preconstruction Estimator to lead cost planning, budgeting, and early project strategy for complex commercial projects. You will oversee estimating, design-phase cost plans, and coordination with owners, architects, and subcontractors to align scope, schedule, and budget.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in CM or Civil Engineering, and proficiency with CostX and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating and preconstruction experience.
• Experience developing conceptual budgets, design-phase estimates, and project cost plans.
• Knowledge of Construction Management, Design-Build, and IPD methods.
• Proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to lead multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts across estimating, budgeting, logistics, scheduling.
• Own the estimating process and develop competitive project estimates.
• Drive cost planning and project strategy to align scope, schedule and budget.
• Provide strategic project guidance through value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and teams.
• Mentor and develop estimators and preconstruction staff.
• Support business development through networking and proposals.
• Monitor market trends to position Granger for long-term success.
