Job summary

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, seeks a Power Trader in Milwaukee, WI to minimize net cost by optimizing owned and contracted generation for Day Ahead and Real Time markets. The role may require background checks for critical cyber assets and adherence to standards of conduct.

The trader will manage generation resources, forecasts, and market strategies, coordinating with operations and market partners to support reliable, economic dispatch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; or 5+ years in generation, bulk electric system ops, or wholesale markets.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and handle stress.
• NERC system operator certification required or obtainable within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate generator availability and performance; optimize offers for Day Ahead and Real Time markets.
• Support NERC RFC MRO and MISO reliability requirements.
• Dispatch generation in real time to ensure reliability and safety.
• Forecast system loads using load and weather data.
• Coordinate unit availability, maintenance, and outages cost-effectively.
• Develop understanding of MISO operations and market practices.
