Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Power Systems Engineer – Strategic Projects to lead high‑voltage substation and transmission initiatives, drive modernization, and support capital investments. You will work across planning, design, construction, and operations, coordinating with cross-functional teams and executives to deliver critical grid improvements.

The role requires 12+ years in power systems with 69–500 kV experience, ABET‑accredited EE degree, and strong analytical/communication skills.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• 12+ years in utility, transmission, substation, or power systems engineering.
• Experience with 69–500 kV systems and substation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-voltage substation and transmission projects.
• Perform system studies: load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, reliability.
• Develop scopes, specs, design criteria, and engineering recommendations.
• Coordinate lifecycle activities: planning, design, construction, commissioning, closeout.
• Assess emerging technologies and provide implementation strategies.
• Present findings to leadership and support budgeting/prioritization.
