Job summary

Merchants Bank Indiana is seeking a Portfolio Manager, Business Lending to oversee a diverse loan portfolio including commercial, business banking, and SBA loans. The role emphasizes proactive credit risk management, portfolio administration, and client coordination with Relationship Managers to maintain performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of portfolio management experience in business banking or commercial lending.
• Experience with SBA lending and regulatory reporting preferred.
• Experience with construction loan administration preferred.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and loan systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage, service, monitor, and troubleshoot an assigned portfolio of Business Banking, Commercial, and SBA loans.
• Proactively monitor portfolio performance to identify potential credit concerns and early warning indicators.
• Facilitate client discussions regarding financial performance, trends, and credit quality.
• Ensure renewals, extensions, and modifications are completed accurately and timely; monitor maturing loan reports.
• Develop and execute relationship strategies for special assets loans to maximize recovery and risk mitigation.
• Oversee construction loan monitoring activities: progress, budget, draw requests, documentation.
• Prepare portfolio reporting to senior management on performance, trends, and risk indicators.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve servicing, collateral, and credit administration matters.
• Facilitate SBA purchase packages for guaranteed loans per SBA requirements.
• Support audits and examinations with timely submission of requested files.
• Maintain relationships with clients, Relationship Managers, and internal/external stakeholders.
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient portfolio monitoring and management.
