Job summary

The Novartis Group of Companies is seeking a Director, Portfolio Analytics in Cambridge, MA to lead major portfolio analytics workstreams guiding enterprise and therapeutic area decisions. You will shape methodologies, translate analytics into actionable insights, and present recommendations to senior leadership.

You will mentor others, develop senior-ready materials, and drive improvements in tools, reporting, and standards across PDA. Strong R&D portfolio analytics experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant pharmaceutical industry experience with exposure to R&D and/or commercialization.
• Deep experience with portfolio analytics, valuation, forecasting, or prioritization.
• Ability to lead complex analyses and present senior-level recommendations.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, portfolio strategy, and enterprise decisions.
• Proven ability to influence in a matrixed environment without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead major portfolio analytics workstreams, including portfolio reviews, long-range assessments, prioritization, TA/franchise analyses, and enterprise decision support.
• Shape analytical methodologies for prioritization, valuation, risk, scenario planning, pipeline sizing, and value optimization.
• Provide senior stakeholders with clear interpretation of portfolio dynamics, risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
• Serve as a senior PDA thought partner for enterprise, franchise, TA, and EPI stakeholders.
• Lead development of senior-ready materials that synthesize analyses into actionable recommendations and narratives.
• Mentor Associate Directors and other PDA colleagues in analytical framing, stakeholder management, and methodology.
• Drive continuous improvement of PDA tools, systems, reporting, and analytical standards.
