Job summary

The Office of the Indiana Attorney General seeks a Director to oversee state and federal policy matters, engage with other states, and coordinate legislative priorities. You will work with the Legislative Division, cultivate stakeholders, and lead key policy initiatives.

The role requires a law degree with at least four years of legal experience, strong writing and analytical skills, travel, and the ability to lead a small team and represent the AG at national policy meetings.

Qualifications

  • Law degree required, with a minimum of 4 years legal experience.
  • Experience with federal policy matters preferred.
  • Legislative experience at either state or federal level preferred.
  • Litigation experience is preferred.
  • Government affairs or lobbying experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between the Office and other state Attorneys General on policy matters.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders relevant to policy priorities.
  • Supports the legislative team by preparing for sessions and drafting legislation.
  • Monitors developments in federal and state policy and advises senior staff.
  • Leads executive policy meetings and coordinates initiatives across divisions.
  • Drafts comment and policy letters to federal agencies and coordinates with other AG offices.
  • Manages policy division staff and leads assigned projects.
  • Represents the Attorney General at national policy meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
