Office of the Indiana Attorney General seeks an Assistant Chief Counsel to support the Chief Counsel and oversee a team of five attorneys handling complex matters. You will assist executive staff, coordinate workload, and contribute to strategic initiatives.

The role requires a JD, Indiana bar admission, and 7+ years of licensed attorney experience in state/federal agencies or related fields. Strong writing, research, and cross‑division collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Indiana and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support to the Chief Counsel and supervises five attorneys in handling complex matters.
• Prepares formal and informal communications to state agencies and executive staff.
• Participates in executive staff meetings and assists in strategic planning initiatives.
• Manages workload and advises on workflow, processes, and decision making.
• Assists in reviewing and approving administrative rules, complex contracts, and agreements.
• Acts as a resource on legal opinions and drafting proposals for legislative consideration.
