Job summary

City of Farmers Branch is seeking an advanced level planner to lead current and long-range planning efforts. Under general supervision, this role coordinates complex zoning proposals from application to final approval and provides guidance to staff.

The position leads development review meetings, presents cases to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council, and may supervise staff or interns. A Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning is required; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning is required.
• Master's degree in Urban Planning is preferred.
• Minimum five years of related work experience is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office and GIS is expected.
• Strong knowledge of planning principles and zoning regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development review meetings and manage complex planning projects.
• Coordinate and process planning and zoning proposals from application to final approval.
• Present cases to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.
• Provide guidance to staff and supervise interns or volunteers when needed.
