Job summary

The City of Farmers Branch, TX seeks an experienced planner II to lead current and advanced planning, coordinating zoning proposals from application to final approval and presenting cases to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.

The position directs development review meetings, provides guidance to staff and volunteers, prepares resolutions and ordinances, and supports long-range planning initiatives and GIS projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or equivalent.
• Master's degree in Urban Planning preferred.
• Minimum five years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of zoning, planning principles, and data analysis.
• Experience with GIS and mapping software.

Responsibilities

• Lead development review meetings and present cases to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.
• Coordinate and process zoning proposals from application to final approval.
• Provide guidance to staff, volunteers, and interns as needed.
• Prepare memos, reports, and packet materials for meetings.
• Review site development plans for compliance with zoning standards.
