Job summary

Hamilton Families seeks an equitable and passionate Director of Strategic Philanthropy to lead fundraising, partnership development, data management, and development team supervision. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role drives annual fundraising strategies, major gifts, and donor engagement while partnering with leadership to advance the organization’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR five years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, including at least 3 years supervising staff or leading teams.
  • Experience securing and stewarding five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors, foundations, corporations, or a combination thereof.
  • Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic landscape
  • Experience working in nonprofit or social service sector
  • Skilled and inclusive people manager with experience in strength-based coaching

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer to develop and implement annual fundraising, engagement, and communications strategies, including major gifts, institutional giving, campaigns, events, and donor stewardship initiatives.
  • Develop compelling fundraising strategies and donor engagement opportunities that advance Hamilton Families' strategic plan.
  • Supervise the Development Team and manage donor information systems, including Salesforce administration and data governance.
  • Lead donor strategy, prospect management, and board engagement.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects to increase philanthropic investment.
  • Collaborate with Communications Director on external fundraising campaigns and activities.
