Job summary

The position focuses on purchasing through authorized vendors, vendor relations, price negotiations, and strategic initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in healthcare supply chain roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Science discipline is preferred.
• 5+ years of overall business experience with supply chain functional roles in the health care or other regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all pharmaceutical products and supplies are purchased through authorized vendors; determines quantities and timing for replenishment.
• Collaborates with the Finance Division to resolve invoice discrepancies before payments.
• Researches substitutes and makes recommendations to purchase from local wholesalers when original orders are delinquent.
• Interviews pharmaceutical representatives to obtain price and bid information and discuss potential manufacturing problems.
• Maintains expiration dates for perishable supplies and arranges disposal or returns as needed.
• Maintains inventory records, purchase orders, shipment status, and vendor contracts; updates Drug Master Listing for price changes.
• Coordinates with Purchasing to manage Joint Purchasing Corporation contracts and supports future bids with data.
• Recommends generic and/or equivalent pharmacological drugs and substitutions.
• Manages personnel functions including hiring, performance appraisals, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Performs other related duties.
