Job summary

Wealthfront seeks a Payroll Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team, overseeing end-to-end payroll operations and ensuring accuracy and compliance across the organization.

You will partner with Accounting, Finance, Human Strategy, Legal, and external advisors to optimize payroll processes in a fast-growing environment. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting and emphasizes data integrity and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of payroll or related accounting/finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems (Namely/ADP/Dayforce preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, NetSuite, Bill.com, and Expensify (or similar systems).

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, including payroll data uploads, personnel records, and complex deductions.
• Handle equity-related payroll tasks (taxation of options/RSUs/ESPP) and mobility tax compliance.
• Collaborate with payroll provider to ensure accurate tax returns and audit trail.
• Prepare year-end reconciliations and respond to tax notices from state agencies.
• Support payroll-related audit requests and generate management reports on payroll costs.
• Record payroll-related journal entries and ensure GAAP-compliant accounting.
