Albany International Corporation seeks a Patent Counsel to develop and execute the company’s global patent strategy. You will work with business, R&D, and legal teams to review inventions, assess protection options, and lead patent filings and prosecution.

The role requires clear business-focused counseling and coordination with global teams. You will oversee drafting and filing of patent applications, manage outside counsel, and contribute to strategic management of the patent portfolio while

Formación

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
• Undergraduate or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of patent experience in a law firm, corporate legal dept, or both.
• Experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications.

Responsabilidades

• Identify, review, and evaluate innovations and determine patentability and strategic value.
• Oversee preparation and filing of U.S. and foreign patent applications.
• Manage patent prosecution, office actions, and claim scope decisions.
• Direct outside patent counsel and manage patent portfolio strategy.
• Provide business-focused counsel on patent strategy, FTO, disclosures, and trade secrets.
• Coordinate with R&D and technical teams across global businesses.

Educación

J.D. from a U.S. law school

Bar admission in US

Engineering degree (Mech/Materials/Chemical)

5+ years patent experience

Experience with US/foreign patent filings
