Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago is seeking an Innovation & Industry Relations Specialist to advance research partnerships and industry collaboration. You will connect faculty and leadership with industry, government and nonprofit partners, supporting sponsored research, commercialization and engagement initiatives.

The role requires managing multiple stakeholder relationships across academic and external environments, coordinating events, and driving initiatives that enhance UIC's research impact

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in industry relations, partnership development, or related areas.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational, communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex environment.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication with faculty, administrators, executives and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry, government, nonprofit and community stakeholders aligned with university research priorities.
• Serve as a point of contact for external organizations seeking engagement with university researchers and centers.
• Identify and advance opportunities for sponsored research and strategic partnerships.
• Coordinate communication between faculty and external partners to support research and innovation activities.
• Coordinate partnership meetings, engagement activities, workshops and site visits.
• Lead development of presentations, reports and stakeholder communications.
• Track partnership activity and outcomes using institutional systems.
