Job summary

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking an Operations Project Manager to provide project management, operational planning, and process improvement support to ADM and OHR. The role leads cross-functional initiatives, develops plans, monitors schedules, manages risks, and translates leadership priorities into actionable work.

This position requires independent work, strong stakeholder management, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
• Knowledge of operational and process improvement methods and practices.
• Ability to manage multiple complex cross-functional projects independently.
• Translate broad objectives into structured plans with milestones and deliverables.
• Proficiency with PM tools for collaboration and reporting.
• Analyze operational problems and propose practical solutions.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders and interdependent workstreams.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and risk/issue logs.
• Provide regular status updates to sponsors and senior leadership.
• Assist leadership with prioritization of annual initiatives and operational improvements.
• Create actionable work plans and accountability structures.
• Draft communications and project documents for leadership decisions.
• Monitor outcomes and capture lessons learned for improvement.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders, consultants, and vendors as needed.
