Job description

We are seeking a Strategic OEM Account Manager to own and develop key OEM customer relationships within the automotive, hydraulic, or industrial manufacturing markets. This individual will serve as the primary commercial and technical point of contact for assigned accounts, managing all aspects of the customer relationship—from quoting and order management to technical product support and long-term account growth.

The ideal candidate has experience working with automotive or hydraulic OEMs and understands the purchasing, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing processes that drive production environments. This individual should be familiar with customer portals for quoting, ECN/ECR activity, order acknowledgements, shipping, and related account requirements. The role builds trusted relationships with engineering, purchasing, quality, operations, and supply chain teams while identifying opportunities to expand business within existing accounts.

This is a highly collaborative role that combines strategic account management, technical product application, and operational excellence to deliver exceptional customer service and sustainable account growth.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management
  • Own and manage assigned strategic OEM customer accounts.
  • Develop and execute account growth plans aligned with customer objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with purchasing, engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, business reviews, and on-site visits.
  • Serve as the primary customer advocate by coordinating internal resources.
Customer Relationship Development
  • Build long-term partnerships through responsiveness, technical expertise, and operational excellence.
  • Understand customer manufacturing processes, sourcing strategies, and production schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product offerings and increase share of business.
  • Proactively communicate product updates, lead times, and market conditions.
Technical Product Support
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
  • Recommend equivalent or alternative products that meet customer application requirements.
  • Explain product differences, materials, manufacturing methods, pressure ratings, corrosion resistance, and performance characteristics.
  • Support product conversions, prototype builds, qualification processes, and production launches.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards including SAE, ISO, DIN, ORFS, JIC, NPT, BSPP/BSPT, Metric, and other fluid power connection systems.
Quoting & Commercial Management
  • Prepare accurate quotations for production programs and new opportunities.
  • Respond to RFQs within established timelines.
  • Maintain customer-specific pricing and commercial agreements.
  • Coordinate annual pricing reviews and cost recovery initiatives.
  • Monitor account profitability.
Order & Program Management
  • Manage customer orders from receipt through shipment.
  • Ensure order accuracy and timely ERP processing.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Logistics to meet delivery requirements.
  • Resolve shipping issues, order discrepancies, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain customer portals, forecasts, and required documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering on new product introductions and engineering change requests.
  • Work closely with Operations to improve delivery performance.
  • Coordinate with Quality on corrective actions and customer quality initiatives.
  • Support Supply Chain with forecasting and inventory planning.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in OEM account management, technical sales, customer engineering support, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting automotive, hydraulic, industrial equipment, or heavy equipment OEM customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Experience recommending equivalent products or engineering alternatives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and OEM supply chains.
