Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Director of Nursing Services to oversee hospital nursing departments, assuring effective planning, organization and evaluation of patient care. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in strategic planning with medical leadership.

The role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to professional development; occasional additional shifts and committee involvement are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing with current non-limited licensure.
• Minimum of five years experience in nursing supervision and/or administration.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate and work cooperatively with individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and control all activities of the nursing department.
• Formulate and implement department objectives aligned with hospital goals.
• Maintain hospital plans and procedures for clinical nursing practice in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Lead quality management efforts to evaluate nursing care delivery systems.
• Participate in hospital strategic planning and act as liaison with medical staff.
• Oversee personnel actions, orientation, licensure, and continuing education.
• Determine staffing needs and patterns to meet unit demands.
• Administer local Bargaining Agreements for Nursing Service personnel.
• Coordinate nursing unit activities with other departments and staff.
• Maintain knowledge of new services, products and equipment for departmental benefit.
• Provide direct patient care when needed and ensure age-appropriate care.
