Job summary

PHILLIPS Programs for Children and Families seeks a Controller to lead accounting operations, ensure GAAP-based financial reporting, and drive internal controls across a multi-entity nonprofit. The role partners with leadership on budgeting, cash management, payroll oversight, and regulatory compliance.

The Controller will mentor the Business Office staff, coordinate with external auditors, and supervise finance functions including tax filings and depreciation schedules.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
• High integrity and discretion handling confidential financial information.
• CPA or similar certification preferred.
• Nonprofit accounting and grant/donor reporting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and payroll oversight.
• Coordinate annual budgets with Finance leadership and department heads.
• Support external audits and Form 990 filings.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports for committees.
