Job summary

JCC Association of North America is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the finance team and oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls as the organization scales. The role emphasizes GAAP for nonprofits, fund accounting, and collaboration with the CFAO to guide strategic decisions.

Responsibilities include month-end close, grant tracking, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7-10 years accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or controller role.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, GAAP, and FASB standards.
• Experience with restricted/unrestricted fund accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Track record of building or improving financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: GL, AP/AR, cash management, reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes for speed and accuracy.
• Ensure accurate coding and allocation of expenses across programs and grants.
• Maintain chart of accounts and evolve it with new programs.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
• Coordinate annual audit and Form 990 with external auditors.
