Job summary

CFS, a mission-driven organization serving communities across the Tampa Bay area, seeks a Controller to lead the accounting function and partner with the CFO on strategic financial guidance.

You will manage nonprofit and grant accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audits, while mentoring a team of accounting professionals and delivering insightful financial analysis to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit and fund accounting.
• Expertise in grant accounting, restricted funds, compliance, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting staff and operations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, budgeting, audits, internal controls, and strategic financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close with GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Oversee nonprofit and grant accounting, including restricted funds and grant reporting.
• Manage annual budgeting and forecasting with variance analysis and cash flow projections.
• Direct audit preparation, Form 990 support, internal controls, and policy compliance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Partner with senior leadership to deliver financial analysis and actionable insights.
