Job summary

Citrus Counseling Services is seeking a Financial Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and manage accounting operations. The role reports to the CEO and is a key member of the Leadership Team, guiding budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and revenue recognition.

The position requires strong nonprofit accounting skills, experience with government contracts and audits, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for the leadership and board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum seven (7) years progressively responsible accounting/financial management experience.
• Experience supervising finance/administrative staff.
• Experience with external audits and working with auditors.
• Experience with government-funded programs and Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations and monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
• Develop and coordinate annual budgets and forecasts; analyze variances.
• Maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
• Provide financial analysis to leadership and board.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting, tax, grants, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee grant contracts, cost allocation, and reimbursements.
• Manage AP/AR, billing, payroll, and cash management.
• Coordinate audits and respond to auditors’ requests.
• Serve as financial liaison with banks, grantors, CPA firms, and partners.
• Provide reporting and guidance to Leadership Team and Board.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities; recommend strategies.
• Lead and develop finance staff.
