Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations. You will ensure integrity of reporting, compliance with nonprofit standards, and stewardship of financial resources.

The role emphasizes internal controls, collaboration with program directors, and support for informed decision-making. The Controller will oversee close processes, bank reconciliations, and annual audits, while coaching staff and implementing improved policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual analyses, and KPI reporting.
• Maintain GAAP-compliant general ledger and chart of accounts for nonprofit accounting standards.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes and bank reconciliations.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors during annual audits and regulatory filings.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures; improve financial systems and processes.
• Supervise accounting staff and foster a customer-service oriented finance culture.
