Job summary

FiberLight, LLC is seeking a Capacity Planning Engineer to lead strategic planning, forecasting, and optimization of national and regional network capacity across MPLS, Ethernet and optical platforms.

The role focuses on developing models, dashboards, and governance processes to anticipate demand, prioritize augmentation projects, and ensure scalable growth while maintaining service levels. Strong analytical skills and collaboration with Engineering and IT are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years in telecom engineering or network planning.
• Strong knowledge of MPLS, Layer 2 Ethernet, DWDM, ROADM, and spectrum management.
• Experience with capacity planning and augmentation strategies.
• Ability to develop dashboards and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long-term capacity strategies for national and regional network infrastructure.
• Monitor utilization across IP/MPLS, Ethernet, optical transport, DWDM, and backbone networks.
• Forecast network growth using historical trends, customer demand, and strategy initiatives.
• Identify capacity constraints and recommend infrastructure augmentations.
• Develop and maintain capacity models to support growth while preserving performance.
• Design dashboards and automated reports for backbone utilization and spectrum availability.
• Collaborate with BI and IT to automate forecasting and analytics.
