Job summary

The City of Carlsbad seeks a Finance Manager to plan, organize, and manage the citywide budget process under the Finance Director. You will coordinate development of the operating budget, strategic digital transformation investment program, and capital improvement program, and produce fee-related documents and annual reports.

In this role you will supervise staff, collaborate with departments, and provide fiscal analysis to guide sound financial decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, public administration, business administration, or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in a large accounting or finance department.
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a large finance department.
• Knowledge of municipal finance principles and automated financial management systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and review work of staff responsible for financial services or functional areas.
• Coordinate city and external agencies' financial services and activities.
• Participate in financial planning strategies and city goals/objectives.
• Develop and monitor budgets, end-of-year requirements, and municipal codes.
