Job summary

Town of Greenwich Department of Finance is seeking a skilled finance professional to support budget development, monitoring, and reporting for municipal operations. The role involves collaboration with multiple town entities and the public to ensure transparent and accurate financial governance.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, with at least five years of financial or budgeting experience, preferably in a municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of financial and/or budgeting experience; municipal experience preferred.
• Knowledge of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of public administration and municipal management analysis.
• Knowledge of laws relating to finance and budgeting procedures at federal, state and local levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry software.

Responsibilities

• Develop the annual budget with the Board of Estimate and Taxation, Representative Town Meeting, Town Departments, and the public.
• Monitor operating and capital spending, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare and distribute budget documents.
• Provide cost of contract analyses for Town collective bargaining agreements.
• Serve as liaison with external auditors.
• Prepare government reports and custom Town Department reports.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing and GL reconciliations.
