Job summary

Town of Fairfield is seeking a seasoned finance professional to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for the municipality. You will manage accounting operations, from accounts payable to payroll, and supervise staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.

Collaborate with the CFO and planning directors to develop budgets, enforce internal controls, and ensure compliance with GASB and state laws.

Qualifications

• Ten years in accounting or related field, with three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Experience in auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and municipal finance regulations.
• Leadership and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee municipal accounting, A/P, A/R, and payroll.
• Develop and implement internal controls and policies.
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership.
• Coordinate with CFO and Board of Finance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage balance sheet and financial records.
