Job summary

Total Wine & More is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our Data Services team in Boca Raton, FL. You will design, develop, and deploy machine learning and AI solutions that drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across the business.

This role requires ownership of projects from concept to execution, mentoring junior teammates, and communicating trade-offs to leadership. You will work across production-grade ML systems and leverage Python, SQL, Docker, and Kubernetes to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, CS, Math, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
• 5–8 years in data science, predictive analytics, econometrics, software engineering, data engineering or related fields.
• Proven expertise in designing and architecting enterprise ML/AI solutions.
• Experience with model training, distributed training, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Proven experience deploying ML systems with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud security/reliability standards.
• Model monitoring, drift detection, retraining workflows, and governance.
• Expert-level programming in Python and SQL; production-grade code and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Frame business problems, engineer features, and select algorithms and architectures for ML solutions.
• Deploy models to production, automate deployment, and ensure robust error handling.
• Monitor model performance, detect data drift, and retrain as needed.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership.
• Communicate model results and trade-offs to leadership and stakeholders.
