Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Buyer I/II to work with production teams and suppliers to procure materials, supplies, equipment, and services. The role covers both level 1 and level 2 based on experience, with compensation driven by location and qualifications.

Responsibilities include managing bids, PO creation, tracking orders, and supporting supplier performance enhancements while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience (Buyer I).
• Minimum of 4 years' experience (Buyer II).
• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
• Proficiency with ERP or MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with manufacturing suppliers by soliciting bids, analyzing quotations, supporting supplier selection, and maintaining effective communication.
• Purchase raw materials, components, indirect materials, equipment, and services with quality, cost, delivery, and specification alignment.
• Coordinate with production, planning, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to support material availability and objectives.
• Monitor open orders, identify shortages or delays, and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Support supplier performance management via delivery, quality, and corrective actions.
