Mortenson is seeking a Project Buyer I or II to collaborate with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services for civil construction projects. Compensation varies by experience and location.

The role requires civil procurement experience, strong negotiation and supplier-management skills, and a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Minnesota-based with potential hybrid work and Mortenson incentives.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience for Project Buyer I; 4+ years for Project Buyer II.
• Current driver’s license.
• Supply chain experience from a Civil Subcontractor or General Contractor with knowledge of civil materials (HDPE, vaults, erosion & sediment control).
• Ability to establish supplier relationships and negotiate purchase agreements.

Aufgaben

• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery time.
• Work with manager to develop profitable purchasing strategies and propose procurement solutions that deliver value and reduce risk.
• Create and maintain procurement logs for each supported operating group project.
• Negotiate with suppliers to purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
• Negotiate and prepare purchase agreements and purchase orders; ensure suppliers adhere to contractual terms and quality standards.
• Analyze markets, manage budgets, and track purchasing trends to increase margins.
• Track order status from placement to delivery and communicate status to project teams.
• Visit project sites to understand challenges and streamline procurement processes.
• Lead special projects for the team as requested.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
