Job summary

ND Defense LLC in West Point, MS is seeking a Manufacturing Cost Engineer to develop manufacturing cost estimates for new business pursuits, engineering changes, and production programs. You will translate drawings, specs, and statements of work into detailed labor, material, tooling, and outside-processing content to support proposals and rate development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years cost estimating, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering in machining, fabrication, welding, or assembly environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and material and process specifications.
Experience with manufacturing processes including machining, plate fabrication, forming, welding, finishing, and mechanical assembly.
Experience developing labor standards and cycle times via time study or a predetermined motion time system.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP (Infor LN) and data extraction/validation.
Familiarity with government contracting cost principles and FAR Part 31; DCAA/DCMA experience preferred.
Strong written communication; able to document assumptions clearly and work across locations.
ITAR export control compliance as required by ND Defense.

Responsibilities

Review drawings, models, specs, and RFQ packages to define scope and identify missing requirements before quoting.
Develop detailed cost estimates covering labor, material, tooling, outside processing, and non-recurring costs.
Build routings, cycle times, and yields; apply labor standards where available and document methods used.
Validate estimating assumptions on the floor with production supervision.
Prepare basis of estimate tying costs to sources for government and contractor reviews.
Provide cost content to Finance and Contracts for rate application and proposal assembly.
Solicit and analyze supplier quotations; evaluate make-versus-buy options.
Support should-cost, value engineering, and cost-reduction studies.
