Job summary

ND Defense in the United States West Point, MS facility is seeking a Manufacturing Cost Engineer to develop manufacturing cost estimates for new business pursuits, engineering changes, and production programs. You will translate drawings, specifications, and statements of work into detailed labor, material, tooling, and outside-processing content, supporting government and prime contractor proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent estimating experience.
• 3–5 years in cost estimating within machining, fabrication, or assembly.
• Ability to read drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and process specs.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes used at ND Defense.
• Experience developing labor standards and cycle times.
• Advanced Excel skills and Infor LN ERP experience.
• Familiarity with FAR Part 31 and government contracting.
• Strong written communication and cross-location collaboration.
• Compliance with ITAR export controls.

Responsibilities

• Define scope of work from drawings, specs, and RFQ packages.
• Develop detailed manufacturing cost estimates by labor, material, tooling, and outside processing.
• Maintain routings, cycle times, setup times, yield and scrap assumptions.
• Validate estimates on the floor with time studies and supervision.
• Prepare basis of estimate documenting costs and sources.
• Support rate application with Finance and Contracts per FAR 15.408.
• Analyze supplier quotations and evaluate make-versus-buy options.
• Maintain cost history and estimating templates for traceability.
• Perform variance analysis and feed lessons into future estimates.
• Support should-cost, VE, and cost reduction studies.
