Job summary

Marlen International, a long-established food processing equipment manufacturer in Riverside, MO, is seeking a Buyer to ensure timely materials procurement to support high-volume production. The role emphasizes cost control, supplier relationships, and accurate replenishment to meet customer demand.

The candidate should have a four-year degree and 5+ years purchasing experience in manufacturing, with strong analytical and ERP skills, including Syteline, Infor, or SAP.

Qualifications

• Four year college degree in engineering, supply chain or business with 5+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
• Strong MS Excel analytical skills.
• Experience in purchasing and understanding of ERP purchasing and planning modules (Syteline, Infor, SAP).
• Desirable: knowledge of reading engineering drawings and specifications; problem solving and self-directed work style.

Responsibilities

• Cost management: develop buying strategies and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers; manage transportation costs to reduce total landed cost.
• Purchase order management: replenish inventory, match supply with demand, process POs, liaise with suppliers.
• Supplier development: monitor performance, drive improvements, explore alternative solutions and new suppliers.
• Sourcing: collaborate with Sales/Production to identify sources, obtain pricing, build supplier relationships, and drive best practices.
