Job summary

The Steamship Authority is seeking a Manager of Workforce Training & Development to lead organizational-wide trainings and career pathways from the Steamship Authority's Falmouth administrative office. This is a full-time, non-union position.

The Manager will coordinate, manage, and execute workforce development programs, assess organizational training needs, and work closely with internal stakeholders to drive results and staff development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of training experience.
• Excellent customer service and cultural sensitivity.
• Strong interpersonal skills and written and oral communication.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and other web-based applications.
• Ability to work with confidential information.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee organization-wide training programs, including customer service, supervisory development, and HR-related trainings.
• Collaborate with management to provide workforce development, planning and support.
• Facilitate staff training courses held with internal and external parties.
• Oversee implementation of customer-facing training programs.
• Develop and launch career pathways and curricula for career tracks.
• Manage employee surveys and assist managers in action planning.
• Develop staff and supervisory training for new hires and ongoing throughout the year.
• Implement a train-the-trainer model with external vendor consultation.
• Partner with community schools, colleges, and training programs serving community residents.
• Assist with employee recognition programs and events with HR leadership and staff.
• Manage execution of all activities, projects, trainings and deadlines related to workforce development and recognition.
• Provide direction to subordinates regarding SQMS disciplines.
• Other related duties as assigned.
