Job summary

Thorlabs in New Jersey seeks a Machine Shop Purchaser Planner to coordinate and plan production schedules in our machine shop, ensuring timely, efficient operations. The role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and solid knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities include developing detailed schedules, forecasting capacity, monitoring materials, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a machine shop or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to optimize workflow, machine utilization and meet delivery deadlines.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
• Analyze machine shop capacity and workload to forecast production needs and adjust schedules as necessary.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods; ensure timely procurement to prevent interruptions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance productivity and reduce lead times.
• Serve as the primary contact between the machine shop and other departments; communicate schedule changes effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, inventory, and activities.
• Address issues during production and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
