Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Local Government Specialist for the Office of the State Comptroller. The role serves as the primary liaison with local government and supports the semiannual property tax settlement process, tax distributions, and related reporting.

The incumbent collaborates with several agencies, maintains ledger integrity, and updates standard operating procedures while supporting statewide initiatives in finance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, or Financial Management/Analysis plus required experience.
• Experience with local government finance and tax distributions is preferred.
• Must demonstrate detailed oriented, organized workload management and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage semiannual settlement processes.
• Prepare and initiate tax distributions to local government and related journal entries.
• Review and track monthly and semiannual tax remittances from local government.
• Communicate with local government officials on tax procedures and calculations.
• Support legislative matters and present updates at SBOA conferences.
• Create and update SOPs for daily responsibilities.
• Support large office-wide priorities like fund consolidation and electronic settlements.
