Shelter Insurance Companies is seeking a Litigation Counsel to lead and direct claims litigation activities across designated states. You will supervise internal teams and coordinate with outside counsel to develop case strategy and ensure compliance with insurance contracts and state law.

The role emphasizes strong legal research, expert understanding of insurance law, and the ability to train branches and departments on litigation protocols, while guiding high-exposure claims to resolution.

Qualifications

• Law degree and mastery and thorough knowledge of litigation, claims-litigation precedents, legal decisions, insurance law, and policy terms.

Responsabilités

• Direct and manage claims litigation activities and case strategy for designated Shelter states.
• Direct Managers and Supervisors in claims handling, investigation, and communication on complex, high-exposure, and other critical branch claims.
• Supervise outside attorneys; hire, fire, and evaluate performance.
• Direct and train claims-handling activities in line with state law.
• Establish and direct overall claims-handling protocol compliant with state law.
• Provide legal research to explain impact on claims handling, procedures, and policy changes proposals.
• Counsel other Shelter departments on various claims, coverage, and legal issues.
• Direct and prepare training for schools, eLearning, and branches.
