Shelter Insurance Companies is seeking a Litigation Counsel to lead claims litigation strategy and supervise outside attorneys across designated states. This role directs training, policy adherence, and cross-department coordination within a dynamic insurance environment.

The position requires a law degree, 1–3 years of trial or legal claims experience, and strong communication and analytical skills. Starting salary ranges from $90,002 to $115,203, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organization, and analytical abilities are required.
• Ability to manage changing schedules and prioritize time-sensitive work.
• Excellent relationship-building with diverse stakeholders, including defense attorneys and management.
• Law degree and thorough knowledge of litigation, insurance law, and policy terms.
• 1–3 years trial or legal claims experience; 6–12 months on-the-job training to learn contracts and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage claims litigation activities and case strategy across designated states.
• Supervise outside attorneys; hire/fire and evaluate performance.
• Direct and train branches on claims handling per state law and policy changes.
• Research and explain impact of law on claims, procedures, and other departments.
