San Francisco Public Library seeks a Chief Operating Officer to guide planning, evaluation, and the daily operations of Library Support Divisions including Finance, Facilities, HR, IT, and Research, Strategy & Analytics. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in listed fields with five years of supervisory experience
• Experience supervising staff across multiple departments/functions
• Education substitution: additional qualifying work experience may substitute education per policy

Responsibilities

• Oversee Library Support Divisions (Finance, Facilities, HR, IT, Research, Strategy & Analytics) and ensure efficient operations
• Direct development and implementation of division goals and resource allocation
• Lead budgeting, capital planning, technology and hiring plan development, aligning with strategic objectives
• Consult with Mayor and other City departments to address service needs and represent the department
• Coordinate audits, audit responses and corrective actions to ensure compliance
• Collaborate with SFPL executive team to advance cross-functional initiatives and city partnerships

Skills

5+ years managerial experience

Public sector management experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Work, Urban Planning, Business Management, Computer Science, or closely related field
