Job summary

JANUS Research Group is seeking a senior legislative affairs professional to support a DoD client at Fort Meade, MD. Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to take a polygraph and have 10+ years in legislative affairs or related planning/execution.

The role requires monitoring defense legislation, coordinating with government officials, and preparing background papers, talking points, and briefings for senior leadership. A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in the legislative affairs field or with department-level planning/execution.
• Experience working with legislative and regulatory documents.
• Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process.
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze congressional hearing transcripts and prepare Questions for the Record (QFR) and Inserts for the Record (IFR).
• Monitor defense legislation, hearings, markups, and floor actions; prepare staff for congressional hearings.
• Respond to congressional inquiries and coordinate with government officials for reviews/approvals.
• Research and write background papers, talking points, and statements; provide legislative briefings to senior leadership.
