Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Legislative Affairs Liaison (Program Specialist VII) in Austin. The role supports the Strategy, Policy & Communications office by conducting advanced legislative analyses, preparing briefs, and coordinating across divisions to streamline processes.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field with strong analytical and communication skills; Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in public health, legislative processes, or government preferred.
• Ability to analyze policies, write and present complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly advanced consultative services and technical assistance in legislative analyses and program implementation.
• Identify potential bills, track legislation, and monitor hearings, providing updates.
• Develop program policies, procedures, standards, and manuals; coordinate legislative work across divisions.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, psychology/sociology, public affairs, or related field
