Job summary

PhaseV is seeking a Legal & Business Operations Director (US) based in Cambridge, MA to lead legal strategy and cross-functional operations for scaling partnerships and commercial growth. You will partner with the U.S.

commercial team, as well as Finance, R&D, and cross-functional colleagues, to negotiate complex agreements and reinforce operational rigor. The role requires a strong legal foundation with in-house and law-firm experience, and the ability to balance risk with pragmatic business

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of legal experience, including law firm work.
• In-house commercial legal experience, preferably at a Series A or later company.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements (NDAs, MSAs, SaaS, data licensing, consulting, vendor contracts).
• Familiarity with privacy, data licensing, AI, IP, and clinical research agreements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the legal partner for the U.S. commercial organization.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and vendor contracts.
• Triage legal requests and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
• Develop scalable contract templates, playbooks and approval processes.
• Partner with the Legal Director to ensure global consistent legal support.
• Lead cross-functional operational initiatives to scale the business.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements across the org.
• Support strategic partnerships, corporate initiatives, and executive projects.
