Job summary

GTSC Human Resources (HR) is seeking a Leave & Benefits Specialist in Chantilly, VA. Hybrid-eligible after 90 days, you will administer federal, state, and contract leave programs (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, STD) and support benefits processes and communications.

You will handle sensitive information with discretion, coordinate with vendors, and ensure compliance across the leave lifecycle while supporting wellness initiatives and monthly invoicing.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience administering employee leave programs.
• In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, USERRA, SCA, and related federal/state leave laws.
• Experience assisting with benefits processes, including premium tracking and invoice reconciliation.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with employees regarding sensitive matters.
• Experience working with third-party administrators and coordinating multi-party processes.
• High attention to detail, organization, and time management.

Responsibilities

• Process intermittent and continuous FMLA leave requests, ensuring regulatory timelines.
• Evaluate and process ADA job accommodation and ADA-related leave requests, coordinating interactive processes.
• Coordinate Short-Term Disability (STD) needs and communicate with third-party administrators or carriers.
• Process and manage USERRA leave requests, ensuring proper communication and documentation.
• Provide timely and empathetic responses to employees and managers on leave rights and obligations.
• Draft and issue leave correspondence to employees and managers on leave rights and financial obligations.
• Coordinate return‑to‑work efforts, including documentation and modified duties.
• Partner with internal departments to ensure alignment on charge codes and recordkeeping throughout the leave lifecycle.
• Support monthly benefits invoice reconciliation and vendor inquiries by confirming eligibility and coverage changes.
• Process benefits transactions related to hiring, staffing changes, and QLEs with HRIS and vendors.
• Support benefits audits and compliance activities, including documentation validation and reporting.
• Participate in wellness initiatives and distribute benefits-related resources.
