Job summary

JCC East Bay in Oakland, CA is seeking a Senior Director of Jewish Education and Programs to lead high‑quality educational experiences for children, teens, families, and adults. This role reports to the CJEO and oversees program leaders, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and educational values.

The Senior Director will guide program development, supervise staff, and foster cross‑program collaboration while partnering with local Jewish organizations.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of professional experience in Jewish education, experiential education, youth and family programming, or related field.
• Experience in a senior leadership role with supervision and staff development.
• Strong understanding of Jewish life, culture, and values with inclusive learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Translate educational vision into meaningful programs across the organization.
• Lead implementation of educational priorities and strategic initiatives.
• Work with program directors to set goals, manage resources, and ensure execution.
• Provide hands-on leadership for select programs and coordinate events.
• Ensure quality through evaluation, reflection, and continuous improvement.
• Build partnerships with local Jewish organizations and community leaders.
• Occasionally work evenings and Sundays to support programs.
