Job summary

Manulife Financial Corporation is seeking a senior leader for the Treasury & Portfolio Services function in Boston. You will oversee technical accounting, custody oversight, and analytical leadership across multiple fund platforms, guiding strategic initiatives and governance practices.

The role requires deep fund accounting experience, strong leadership and stakeholder management, and the ability to partner across Investments, Product, Legal, and Compliance to develop practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, investment company accounting, and fund operations’ principles.
• 10+ years’ experience within fund accounting, custody, fund administration, audit, asset management, or related financial services functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis and resolution of complex accounting, custody, and operational issues.
• Evaluate transactions, investment structures, and business initiatives to ensure appropriate application of U.S. GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on fund accounting, custody oversight, fund distributions, fund events, liquidity facilities, and complex investment products.
• Research technical accounting matters and provide recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
• Analyze significant NAV fluctuations, accounting exceptions, and unusual portfolio activity to identify underlying drivers and operational impacts.
• Lead investigations related to NAV errors, accounting discrepancies, and operational incidents, including root cause analysis, remediation planning, and implementation of preventative controls.
• Provide accounting and operational guidance related to complex transactions, fund events, and emerging business initiatives.
