Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in San Diego seeks a senior leader to own enterprise epidemiology and real-world evidence strategy, governance, and execution across portfolios. You will partner with R&D, Medical, Market Access, and Analytics to shape globally relevant evidence programs and support regulatory submissions.

This role requires deep epidemiology expertise, proven leadership of cross-functional teams, and the ability to translate strategy into portfolio plans.

Qualifications

• Master’s + 12+ years relevant experience OR PhD/PharmD/MD (Epidemiology/Public Health or related) + 10+ years pharma/biotech epidemiology/RWE experience OR previous management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of clinical/regulatory evidence; trusted-advisor mindset.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and analytical/judgment skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise epidemiology/RWE strategy and align with cross-functional priorities.
• Establish functional governance (methodological standards, evidence quality, prioritization, ways of working).
• Translate enterprise strategy into portfolio/therapeutic-area evidence plans.
• Advise executives on population health, disease epidemiology, and RWE.
• Drive evidence for regulatory submissions, HTAs, reimbursement, and global value demonstration.
• Lead/coach/develop staff; manage resourcing and budget.
• Integrate RWE into Phase 3 design and late-stage development (e.g., external control arms, endpoint validation).
• Ensure consistent, high-quality epidemiologic/observational methods; partner with DSPV for safety-focused analyses.
• Collaborate with HEOR/Market Access; ensure outputs meet payer/HTA/regulatory expectations; represent function in scientific advice/discussions and engage external stakeholders.
