Job summary

West Texas A&M University seeks an Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Belonging to provide strategic leadership for campus-wide engagement initiatives, supervise student staff, and partner with campus units to boost belonging and retention.

The role focuses on planning events, leadership development, volunteer opportunities, and assessment of programs, with evenings/weekends as needed; strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or combination of education and experience.
• Four (4) years of professional experience in management of Student Activities programs.
• Experience planning and facilitating campus-wide events, Homecoming and Welcome Week activities, leadership training, and community service activities.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills, ability to work in a high energy, flexible team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute campus-wide events, including Homecoming and Welcome Week.
• Supervise student staff and volunteer teams to support event planning.
• Collaborate with campus partners to advance engagement and belonging.
• Develop leadership education programs and service opportunities.
• Assess programs and implement best practices for student engagement and retention.
