Job summary

Empire State University seeks an Assistant Director of Student Engagement to lead the university's comprehensive engagement strategy across virtual and in-person settings. The role focuses on belonging, leadership development, retention, and student success, aligning programs with institutional priorities and serving diverse, adult learners in a distributed environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Experience, the incumbent will design, implement, and assess initiatives,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of three years of progressive professional experience in student services.
• Experience in program development, event planning, and student organization advising.
• Ability to communicate and engage with diverse individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a comprehensive calendar of online and in-person programs.
• Provide training, advising, and oversight for student clubs and organizations.
• Oversee SUNY Empire Connects platform governance and usage.
• Increase engagement with the virtual student union and inclusive programming.
• Coordinate data collection and reporting for program assessment and improvement.
• Supervise interns and student staff, including hiring and training.
