Job summary

Novartis is seeking an Associate Director, Semantic and Knowledge Engineering to design and govern enterprise semantic models and knowledge graphs that power AI, analytics, and enterprise search across the organization.

The role involves building reusable semantic capabilities, collaborating with Product, Applied AI, Analytics Engineering, and Platform Engineering teams, and driving governance for semantic assets with a focus on RAG, agentic AI, and interoperability. 10% travel expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• 6+ years in semantic technologies or related areas.
• Hands-on experience with ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic APIs.
• Experience enabling AI, enterprise search, and analytics with semantic assets.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic models.
• Build knowledge graphs and semantic APIs to support AI and analytics.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed semantic capabilities into products and workflows.
• Govern metadata and lifecycle management for enterprise knowledge assets.
• Evaluate emerging semantic technologies to evolve the knowledge architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote reusable engineering patterns.
