Job summary

Novartis is seeking a Director of Semantic and Knowledge Engineering to lead enterprise semantic models, ontologies, and knowledge frameworks powering NovaOS. This role collaborates across AI, Data Science, Product, and Engineering to deliver interoperable data and scalable enterprise intelligence.

The role requires 8+ years in semantic technologies with leadership skills, and a strong background in RDF/OWL, knowledge graphs, and metadata management. Domestic and international travel is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or advanced degree in CS/Info/AI or related field.
8+ years of experience in semantic technologies and enterprise information architecture.
Hands-on expertise with ontologies, RDF/OWL, knowledge graphs, and semantic web tech.

Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of ontologies, vocabularies, and semantic models.
Develop and maintain knowledge graphs and semantic services for AI, analytics, and search.
Partner with AI, Data Science, Product, and Engineering to integrate semantic capabilities.
Establish metadata standards, governance processes, and quality controls for knowledge assets.
Support AI initiatives by enabling RAG, reasoning engines, and contextual search.
Evaluate emerging semantic technologies and propose architecture improvements.
Lead and mentor semantic engineers and promote reusable patterns.
